It's endlessly flattering to find Berkshire Living relics posted in local establishments, but even better is when the discovery is cloaked by an element of surprise.

Tick, tock, tick, tock: the holiday rush is on. Those seeking unique last-minute gifts, look no further than LOCAL, a swell new shop in the Lenox Commons (formerly the Shops at Aspinwell) on Route 7 in Lenox, Mass. This is responsible shopping, after all.

The grassroots arts and community organization Alchemy Initiative in Pittsfield, Mass., is celebrating the nearly fifty artisans who will convene for its third annual Handmade Holiday Festival on December 4-5 with an old-fashioned Internet countdown.

Lest the warm temps deceive us, it's nearly the end of October and we're enjoying fog and mist worthy of any Halloween horror-film set. And it's even spookier when set to the backdrop of today's acid-bright foliage (get thee to the top of Mount Greylock, stat!).

Waxing poetic about breakfast... crazier things have happened!

I try to carry some sort of note-taking device with me at all times, but one always turns into a half-dozen because I rock an oversized tote on the regular. Options, people!

I awoke this morning to feel a distinct chill permeating my apartment. The sky outside was gray--hooray!--and I sensed immediately a familiar feeling: this is Josh Billings weather.

When that cool snap breezed into town a couple of weeks ago, I shifted, naturally, into domestic mode. And, for reasons yet unknown, I decided it was time to clean the interior of my microwave.
