Got a bike? Hop on and cruise around every Thursday

“I’m not trying to run a business here, I’m just trying to get people out on bikes,” says Jay Elling, who, along with Justin and Huckleberry Delsignore of the Copperworks, a blossoming cultural group in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, helped found the Pittsfield Church of Bicycle (PCB).

Spurred in part by the city’s 3rd Thursday celebrations, PCB began the increasingly popular Bike Night last year—an open invitation for locals and visitors alike to simply ride bikes downtown as a group every Thursday night.

Don’t have a bike? PCB has a small—but growing—“library” of loaners, many of which are in working or near-working condition and may be borrowed by would-be riders, or, better yet, sponsored by charitable folk looking to help fund alternative modes of transportation in Pittsfield. As summer evenings beckon, join this crowd of fun-loving bicyclists and take a ride! (JUNE 2009)
