CLICK PICK: Got it Made
Harnessing the region’s wealth of talent and appreciation for homespun goods, BerkshireMade highlights local craft by teaming it up with the online marketplace. The crisp website brings artisans together both virtually and in person; an entire page is devoted to artists’ virtual shops on Etsy, the global Internet marketplace for handmade and vintage goods, which highlights and encourages those already marketing themselves in the arenas of jewelry, woodworking, ceramics, glass, fabric, paper, metal, and specialty food. Adding to the sense of community, the group’s blog highlights news, events, and membership info, as well as tips and stories from artists, rounding out the site as a valuable resource for locally produced items and ideas.
On June 26, BerkshireMade goes real-life with Handmade in the Park, a bazaar in Lee, Mass., featuring goods by twenty-five crafters and artisans, many of whom also take part in the new Artisan Market component of the Pittsfield, Mass.-based 3rd Thursday celebrations downtown through October.
